It is a platform to run activities in applied mathematics that have both national and international, as well as long-lasting impact. The activities include annual or semester-long research programs that consist of week-long workshops, summer/winter schools, public lectures, researcher-in-teams, summer interns for graduate and undergraduate students. These programs, usually jointly organized by applied mathematicians and scientists and engineers in other disciplines, reflect the modern and future development of applied mathematics, and address the pressing social, scientific and technological issues facing China, Asia and the world that can be solved by mathematical and computational technologies. The participants of these activities include both top as well as young researchers from China and the world. JIAM will also develop an active postdoctoral program and the postdocs will be mentored and trained by leading researchers from all over the world.
