On September 27, Nie Biao, Director of Department of Cultural and Educational Experts (DCEE), State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), Chui Haichun, Deputy Director of Division of Planning of DCEE, SAFEA, and Feng Donghui, Deputy Director of Division of Foreign Experts and Overseas Students, Shanghai Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs visited School of Mathematical Sciences to inspect the Network of International Center of Education in China.
Xu Xuemin, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Mo Liangjin, Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, SJTU, Wu Jingyi, Director of Office of Undergraduate Education, Li Jianshu, Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences, Chen Xianfeng, Secretary of CPC Committee of School of Mathematical Sciences, Xiao Dongmei, Deputy Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences, and Professor Li Yachun, Professor Huang Jianguo, Professor Tudor Ratiu, Professor Eiichi Bannai, Doctor Mikhail Tyaglov attended the meeting.
Xu Xuemin welcomed Nie Biao and briefly introduced the fast internationalization development of SJTU, such as the development of School of Mathematical Sciences. She appreciated SAFEA’s long-term guidance and support on the internationalization strategy of SJTU.
Li Jianshu introduced the School’s international vision, system and faculty, achievements of education internationalization, difficulties of reform on management system and future development planning. Then, all attendees had an in-depth discussion.
Nie Biao gave credit to the School’s achievement on its education internationalization. He noted that School of Mathematical Sciences is a front-runner of implementing tenure system and needs to increase the number of tenured faculty and overseas young scholars to further develop the School.
