Title: Joint spectral characteristics of matrices versus primitivity
The joint spectral characteristics of matrices, such as the joint spectral radius, the p-radius, the Lyapunov exponent, etc., found numerous applications for the last two decades. We consider in detail two areas of their applications: refinement equations and wavelets, and combinatorial number theory. In both applications we spot the relation of the joint spectral characteristics with the notions of primitivity for matrix families.
